Reimbursement Assignment
The following represents an exercise in the completion
of a typical claim for reimbursement for driver education students in the State
of Illinois. The form ISBE 54-30 is to
be used as the basis for completion of the assignment. Send answers via email to safety@siu.edu
As a basis for completing the claim, utilize the
following information:
1.
400 students have enrolled in your high school driver education
program. 360 of them have completed the
laboratory phase while all 384 have completed the classroom phase.
2.
Three teachers have been engaged in the instructional phases of this
program. Their basic salaries are
$39,000 per year each. 67% of each
salary should be given over to practice driving cost with 33% being given over
to classroom cost.
3.
Rental of projector for laboratory - $123.
4.
The salary of the supervisor of driver and safety education is $42,000
a year. Figure 50% for classroom and
50% for laboratory.
5.
10 cars have been utilized in the instructional program and maintenance
costs were $135 for each vehicle.
6.
The operational costs for each of the above vehicles is calculated to
be $347.50 per year each.
7.
Insurance costs for the driver education vehicles was a total of
$1500.00.
8.
There were $1400 in supplies purchased for classroom use and $340 spent
on the practice driving supplies.
9.
The school spent $143 on each of three teachers for in-service
training. (Place total amount for
in-service training under classroom column).
Using the above data (1) determine the total amount
of money spent on the driver education program. (2) the amount of money that might be claimed for reimbursement
purposes and (3) then determine the per capita cost of your driver education
program.
