Driver Education Reimbursement Assignment
Problem No. 2
The following represents an exercise on the
completion of a typical claim for reimbursement for driver education students
in the state of Illinois. The form ISBE
54-30 is to be used as the basis for completion on the assignment. Send your answers via to safety@siu.edu
As a basis for completing the claim, utilize the
following information:
1.
300 students have enrolled in your high school driver education
program. 285 of them have completed the
laboratory phase while 295 have completed the classroom phase.
2.
Three teachers have been engaged in the instructional phases of this
program. Their basic salaries are
$29,000 per year each. Eighty percent
of each salary should be given over to practice driving cost and 20% being
given over to classroom cost.
3.
Rental on some classroom equipment was $65.
4.
Three cars were utilized in the instructional program and maintenance
costs were $300 for each vehicle.
5.
The operational costs for each of the above vehicles is calculated to
be $500 per year each.
6.
Insurance costs for the driver education vehicles was a total of $347.
7.
There were $562 in supplies purchased for classroom use and $243 spent
on the practice driving supplies.
8.
The school spent $94 on each of three teachers for in-service
training. (Two went to a motorcycle
driving workshop and one went to a alcohol curriculum workshop).
9.
Driving simulation equipment was bought for $30,000. Figure one year depreciation at maximum
rate.
Using the above data (1) determine the total amount
of money spent on the driver education program, (2) the amount of money that
might be claimed for reimbursement purposes and (3) then determine the per
capita cost of your driver education program.
