Complete all of the following questions and email answers (along with each question) to the instructor at safety@siu.edu by Friday, 5 August 2005 by 16.30 noon.  No responses will be accepted after 16.30.

 

1.  List and discuss at least three (3) reasons why it is advisable to develop driver education program policies and procedures.  Also, what three factors would you consider when developing such policies and procedures?  (10 points)

 

 

 

2.  Discuss public relations and how it affects the ongoing driver education program.  (10 points)

 

 

 

3.  Identify by name the two professional organizations that all driver education teachers should join.  Describe the purpose of such memberships.  Also state the name of professional journals available with such memberships.  (10 points)

 

 

 

4. Write a letter that you would send to the parents of a student who needs more help in his driving performance.  (10 points)

 

 

 

5.  Identify and list the top five (5) topics you would present in the classroom component of high school driver education.  Why are these topics the most important to discuss?  (10 points)

 

 

 

 

 

6.  Since you have completed the major driver education courses in one of the best driver education teacher preparation program in the United States, what parts of HED 443s would you highlight as being best for preparing you to be a successful high school driver education teacher?
